You Can Help

There are opportunities in all aspects of STAO's operations. Anyone with a heart to reach out and serve orphans and widows in Africa will find exciting projects to bring God's love to these deserving people.

Construction workers,  Doctors , dentist painters, administrators, managers, evangelist - your time and skills will be put to great use! Some specific areas of need are listed below but STAO is open to whatever your interest as you desire to support the children of Uganda.

Agape Children's Home

The recent partnership with world orphans has provided funding and opportunities to build a home to accommodate children who have lost their parents to AIDS and have not been placed with foster families. Groups or individuals with engineering, plumbing, construction, carpentry, or electrical skills are needed.

Agape Integrated School

As with any school, volunteer opportunities abound. Those interested in tutoring of just enjoying and playing with the children would be welcome. Qualified teachers are particularly needed to work with local teachers. Basic school supplies are always needed and are appreciated.

Administration

Administrative areas such as the Child Welfare Department who is responsible for home visits and school evaluation visits. The HIV/AIDS Department is responsible for processing HIV screenings and counseling.

Rural Health Initiative

The Mobile Clinicprovides medical access to rural villages. STAO counsels, conducts HIV screenings and treats people with HIV/AIDS. Services are provided to people with general ailments. Doctors, nurses, and dentists are always needed. However, opportunities to serve beside trained STAO staff are available to those without medical training.

 

The church holds the key to defeating this modern-day plague.
Children can suffer because of AIDS, even when they don't have the disease themselves. When a parent dies prematurely, a child's world collapses. Anxiety, depression and despair are common as a child tries to adjust to life without his or her parents. And if dealing with grief isn't difficult enough, children are sometimes shunned by the community because they are feared. At a time when emotional support is needed most, people often turn away. It's usually not intentional. It happens because there. In spite of the disastrous statistics surrounding the AIDS pandemic, thereare many myths and misinformation about HIV/AIDS

You Can Pray

Would you join us, first and foremost, in praying for a solution to the crisis? We have real confidence when we approach the Father in Christ's name, knowing that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20, NIV).

Please pray:

  • that the church would respond with the compassion of Jesus Christ to all those who are affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis.
  • that God would use the HIV/AIDS-related projects of Save The Aids Orphans to give eternal hope to those who are hopeless.
  • for save the aids orphans Volunteers  around the world who are giving their hearts and their lives to care for people affected by HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS Orphans & Vulnerable Children

HIV/AIDS provides an opportunity for the Christian church and community to share the love of Christ with those who are suffering from the disease. Your gifts will support programs that provide care to people with AIDS and their families, including home-based care and hospice programs. A $30 gift per month  can provide the resources, including food, medication, or hygiene items, to care for one family with home-based assistance.

HIV/AIDS Medical Programs

With 42 million men, women, and children infected with HIV/AIDS, the medical needs facing mission hospitals and other medical facilities are enormous. Your gifts will assist programs that provide medical care, including medications and counseling to prevent mother-to-child transmission, for those infected with HIV. A gift of $15 can supply medication and post-natal counseling to prevent one HIV-infected mother from passing the virus on to her child.

 

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:

There are many ways that you can support the needs of children affected by HIV/AIDS in Uganda

  • Raise awareness in your community – Give a presentation to your child’s class or school, a civic group, or your faith-based community. Contact us for outreach materials.
  • Volunteer – Show your support for Save The Aids Orphans Uganda or another organization working to address the pandemic by giving your time, talents, or expertise. If you are interested in volunteering at STAO, please contact our office for more information.
  • Host a house party – Invite your friends and family to your home and educate them about the challenges of HIV/AIDS in Africa.
